Originally po I sometimes sit at work and think about why I am there. I often hunger for something more, something more meaningful, a life more focused on what I love. I feel like there is so much more for me to do, businesses to have, people to empower, lives to impact. It’s as if when I talk to customers or co-workers I am only touching on the impact I can have in the community or business.
And though I long for something more I try not to focus on what I think but work to focus on what God has called me to do. I mean I do make plans and dream dreams and consider what is the best next move for me. But the more I think about it my spirit prompts me to do what God has for me. I think of the dreams I have to empower people, to lead others, be active in business.
In my mind’s eye, I would condemn myself by saying, “You don’t have it together….You are supposed to have it together at 42 years old.” All these things and more come to mind but in reality they are all a load of hooey (crap). Too often we condemn ourselves because look at us through human eyes, and not via the Word of God. God’s Word tell us in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope”. God sees us with the infinite power that he has given us. We oftentimes choose to look at our lives, our hopes, and our dreams in a way that is not congruent with God.
We should seek God first in our careers. For instance, I was talking to one of my siblings recently and she advised me I should move to Atlanta and leave Austin . Given how much I love my family and my history in living in Atlanta this might seem quite logical. But God did not call me to live in Atlanta ; he called me to live in Austin . The point is, don’t simply used logic or the advice of others in deciding your career moves, seek God and His Word. Had I moved just on the basis of impulse then it would not be something guided or authorized by God and possibly problematic.
With God as your career counselor you have direction, wisdom, and knowledge. As a joint heir with Christ you have access to God’s database, access it. His knowledge has no limits and is open to all who believe. He tells us in 1ST Corinthians 1:30 “It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption”. Since we have access through Jesus to God we can rely on Him and access His wisdom, therefore, we are no longer limited by our individual knowledge and wisdom.
Any normal person has moments of self-doubt, occasions where others around you display a lack of faith in you, and situations in life that may seem to be impossible to navigate. When you doubt yourself, when life has stomped all over you, continue to see yourself, and indeed your life as whole and complete, as purpose driven. A God purposed life is one where you lay hold of and cling to His Truth, knowing that He can turn any situation around when see yourself and life as He sees it.
Doing this allows you to lay hold of the victory God has already provided you. This victory is assured if you don’t quit and if you refuse to see anything in life that is contrary to the truth of God’s Word. sted to Blogger 5811/13
